SIZE GUIDE

Vintage denim and clothing run much smaller than modern denim & clothing. I recommend you follow this size guide to get your correct measurements before placing your order. It is important to know that when purchasing vintage clothing, it’s best to purchase based off of the measurements and not necessarily the size label as industry standards on vintage clothing sizing were very different than what they are present day.

All measurements are taken via the flat method style, where the clothing is laid out flat, and measured from front or back as necessary to get the accurate measurements.

VINTAGE DENIM/PANTS/SHORTS

The best key to finding your size in vintage denim is to measure a current pair of vintage denim you own, preferably a pair with no stretch, as all the denim I sell is rigid denim.

If you are new to vintage denim, DO NOT GO SOLEY OFF OF THE TAGGED SIZE, you MUST select your size off of the measurements to ensure accurate fit. Vintage denim tag labels were sized very differently than modern denim.

I recommend measuring with a soft, sewing measuring tape.

I measure all our pants in inches & you should also measure your existing clothing or body in inches.

Waist:

All measurements for denim, pants and shorts are taken via the “flat waist method”. Essentially this means the waist is measured from the widest point side to side while the pants are laid flat, and then doubled. For example, a 15-inch flat waist would be 30 inches for fit.

Hips:

All measurements for denim, pants and shorts are taken via the “flat hip method”.

This measurement is taken from one side seam to the other, from right below where the fly ends. Essentially this means the hips are measured from the widest point on the pants, horizontally, while the pants are laid flat, and then doubled. For example, if the width while laid flat is 20 inches, the flat hip measurement is doubled for the accurate hip measurement of 40 inches around, so the size on my site would be listed as a 40-inch hip.

Front Rise:

The front rise is measured from the front side of pants starting at the bottom edge of crotch seam to top edge of waist band.

Back Rise:

The back rise is measured from back side of pants starting at the bottom edge of crotch seam all the way to top edge of waist band

Leg In Seam:

The in seam is measured straight down the inside of the leg, from the crotch seam to hem. If you like your denim longer to sit bunched at the bottom, lay over heels/boots or like to wear them cuffed, add 1-2 inches to your measurement.

Leg Out Seam:

The out seam is measured from the top edge of waist band to bottom edge of hem, following along the outside leg seam.

TOPS/JACKETS

Chest:

The chest/bust of tops & jackets is measured horizontally from right below one armpit to the other, when the garment is laid flat, and doubled.

Shoulder:

This measurement is taken from the back of the garment while laid flat, horizontally at the top of the garment from one shoulder seam to the other.

Length:

The measurement from the highest point of the shoulder, where the collar meets the shoulder to the longest part of the bottom hem, measured vertically with top/jacket laid flat, while buttoned or zipped up if the front has buttons or a zipper.

Sleeve:

The sleeve is measured from the shoulder seam, down the sleeve, to the hem of the sleeve or the cuff.

DRESSES

Chest/Bust:

The chest/bust of tops & jackets is measured horizontally from right below one armpit to the other, when the garment is laid flat, and doubled.

Shoulder:

This measurement is taken from the back of the garment while laid flat, horizontally at the top of the garment from one shoulder seam to the other.

Length:

The measurement from the highest point of the shoulder, where the collar meets the shoulder to the longest part of the bottom hem, measured vertically with top/jacket laid flat, while buttoned or zipped up if the front has buttons or a zipper.

If the dress is a tank top style or doesn’t have a collar, this measurement starts at the top point of the tank top strap when laid flat.

Sleeve:

The sleeve is measured from the shoulder seam, down the sleeve, to the hem of the sleeve or the cuff.

BOOTS

All boot sizes are listed as the size printed on the boots themselves.
